Student Spotlight: Noura Bo Khamsin
Noura Bo Khamsin, a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), has taken a major step in her educational and professional development by applying and being selected for the Rewriting the Code Fellowship. Tailored for women interested in Computer Science and Engineering, the Fellowship provides executive mentorship and networking with industry leaders, educational programs, and the potential of obtaining a summer internship with the Fellowship’s many partners (e.g., Apple, Facebook, SpaceX, Spotify).
As a freshman, Noura’s KGSP advisor, Monica Matais, encouraged her to take advantage of her university’s career center early, in order to get a head start in obtaining for enrichment opportunities—this is where Noura discovered the Rewriting the Code Fellowship. She immediately saw that this opportunity was a great pathway forward to promoting herself for potential internships, saying that “Rewriting the Code’s fellowship is the perfect catalyst for my further advancement in tech.”
For a full academic year, Noura will have her education at UMD complemented with the Fellowship’s programming and activities, offering amazing experiences to apply her knowledge and expand her interests. She will have the chance to showcase her talent to campus professors and also to the STEM experts she will meet during the fellowship, greatly boosting her academic performance and career prospects.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
Selection to the KGSP is extremely competitive, and currently by invitation only. Successful applicants are Saudi Arabian students in their final year of high school who demonstrate impressive academic credentials within STEM fields, meaningful extra-curricular achievements, and who share the KAUST ethos of continuous discovery. The KGSP is administered by the Office of Strategic National Advancement at KAUST, under the direction of Vice President & Senior Associate to the President, Dr. Najah Ashry.
