In the undergraduate admissions process, “Early Action” applications are due to universities one-to-two months earlier than the standard application deadline, which in turn allows those applications to receive an admission decision much earlier. Early Action applications signal a student’s high level of commitment and interest in attending a particular institution, which can often lead to a competitive advantage in admission likelihood.
This year, a record number of KGSP Foundation Year students applied Early Action to top-tier undergraduate institutions in the U.S., resulting in the highest number of early admission applications—and acceptances—in KGSP history! Students worked diligently throughout the summer to collect the necessary application documents (official transcripts and recommendation letters), as well as compose stellar college essays. Their proactive efforts proved worthwhile, with an impressive 89 percent of students submitting at least one Early Action application. 76 percent of students have also already received at least one offer of admission!
Students Aljazzy Alahmadi (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science) and Faisal Alsallom (Physics) are glad to have taken advantage of this opportunity, both earning Early Action admission to the highly-competitive Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Other notable Early Action admissions offers received as of March 1 include the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Purdue University, and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Admissions successes overall are contributed to each student’s unique academic profile, as well as a focused partnership with his/her individual KGSP Advisor. Advisors help in the identification of university preferences and research interests, connect students with academic coursework and tutoring to support their SAT and TOEFL exam preparation, and provide detailed feedback in the development of competitive essays.
With these early successes, KGSP looks forward to receiving all regular application decisions that remain in April!
