Scholarship Structure

Foundation Year
  • Foundation Year programs occur prior to undergraduate acceptance and are hosted at several renowned universities throughout the United States. The Foundation Year is designed to prepare students for the academic rigors of undergraduate work while supporting them in gaining admission to top-tier institutions.
  • As part of the Foundation Year program, each student receives individualized mentoring in all aspects of the undergraduate application and placement process, as well as an ongoing opportunity to improve their SAT and TOFEL scores. Students collaborate with KGSP advisors to explore leading science and engineering programs and develop a list of schools at which to apply. With the support of their advisors, students work throughout the fall and spring semesters to produce comprehensive and competitive undergraduate applications. Placement support continues through the point of acceptance and matriculation to a prominent undergraduate university.
Undergraduate
  • Most KGSP students* enter undergraduate programs in the United States following their Foundation Year. Because of the academic talent of KGSP students, the success of the KGSP Foundation Year programs, and the continuous support of KGSP advisors and administrators, students are routinely admitted to top-tier institutions within their chosen fields of study. At the conclusion of their bachelor's degree programs, students are prepared to apply and be accepted into one of KAUST's master's degree programs. Successful KGSP applicants receive a competitive fellowship to complete their graduate work at KAUST.
    * Some students who are admitted to the KGSP already have admission to a top-tier college or university. For these students, the undergraduate degree program is the first phase of KGSP.
Enrichment
  • KGSP students at all levels of the program have access to a wide range of enrichment opportunities each academic year. Many students get the opportunity to attend the Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) on KAUST's campus during their winter breaks from classes. In addition, all students participate in a summer enrichment opportunity during each year of their KGSP experience. Students have opportunities to conduct research, work as interns, and study abroad as part of this summer enrichment initiative.
