Project 14: Flame acceleration by plasma actuation

Suitable Majors

Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Research Area

Combustion

Internship Description

The objective of the project is to find the best electrode configuration for acceleration of a flame by plasma discharges. An experimental methodology will be applied. After determining the best electrode designs, they will be built and tested in the CCRC detonation tube.

Prerequisites

No essential prerequisite

Deliverables/Expectations

The measurable evidence of the success of the project will be a transition from a regular flame to a detonation by applying non-equilibrium plasma discharges.
